Less regular jobs – Washing Machine
We recommend cleaning it once a month to avoid mould and spread of germs. To do this add 2 cups of vinegar, ¼ cup of baking soda and ¼ cup of water and add the mixture to the detergent container. Set the washing machine to a normal cycle and hottest setting and run it. Use a sponge or cloth to wipe any residue.
To prevent mould in your front-loading washing machine, here are some practical tips:
-
- Keep the Door Open: After each wash, leave the door slightly ajar to allow air circulation and prevent moisture buildup.
- Clean the Gasket: Regularly wipe down the rubber seal around the door with a damp cloth and disinfectant to remove trapped moisture and detergent residue.
- Use the Right Detergent: Opt for high-efficiency (HE) detergent and avoid overloading it, as excess detergent can leave residue that promotes mould growth.
- Run a Cleaning Cycle: Once a month, run an empty cycle with hot water and a cup of white vinegar or a washing machine cleaner to eliminate mould and odours.
- Dry the Dispenser: Remove and clean the detergent and fabric softener dispensers regularly, ensuring they are dry before reinserting.
- Ventilate the Laundry Room: Ensure proper ventilation in the room to reduce humidity levels.
